About Rugby Web Design

About the business, plus a little about myself too

I aim to bridge the gap between a do-it-yourself website and a premium digital agency.

Market positioning

I aim to bridge the gap between a do-it-yourself website and a premium digital agency.

If you go down the DIY website route, you'll spend a lot of time producing a website which ranks poorly in searches and also suffers from poor conversion rates.

You'll quickly discover you need a professional website!

However, the fees charged by established agencies can be eye-watering for smaller businesses. My professional web design service is considerably more affordable, yet I pride myself on providing the same quality and service.

So how do I do this?

  • Building using the 'code-code' Webflow platform dramatically reduces project build times.
  • I can design and develop the website, removing the need to hire expensive 'coders' to turn static visual ideas into a responsive website.
  • I work from my home office, so I enjoy much lower overheads than a larger, office-based agency.

My career

Throughout my career, I have been involved in art and graphic design, working with a variety of mediums.

I began my working life in the artwork department at a print/publishing company. Whilst working there, I gained qualifications at the Berkshire College of Art & Design.

Following the closure of the company, I took a new 'temporary' direction in the pub trade. My skills were quickly put to use as a freelance blackboard artist. Initially, I produced artistic chalk menus and info boards, which developed into traditional hand painting signage for pubs and shops.

Over time, I began running my own pub/restaurant, and it was during this time I saw the internet's early development. Realising new opportunities, I built my pub's website and soon had my regulars requesting me to make them a website for their businesses.

I left the licensed trade in 2009 and began improving my web design skills as a part-time 'hobby' business. Fast forward to today, and I'm trading as a Limited company, working full-time from my home office.

My interests

Although my other-half insists I'm addicted to technology, at heart, I'm a bit of an old fuddy-duddy, with a love of real ales and the bygone age of steam railways.

I used to play the guitar in a number of live bands, and whilst my 'gigging days' are long over, I still enjoy playing my guitars at home.

Thanks for reading this page. My apologies, as that's two minutes of your life, you'll never get back!
