I help SMEs feel more confident online by creating strategic websites that balance good design with realistic pricing. My focus is always on clarity, speed and a human approach. I started Rugby Web Design because I love being creative, and I wanted to use that to make a real difference for small businesses.
Too many SMEs are stuck between a choice of attempting a DIY website that doesn’t convert, or using overpriced agencies that feel out of reach. (I was once that person too), so I knew there had to be a better way.
Most of my clients are small business owners with limited time, limited budgets and big ambitions. They want clarity in their message, a website that reflects their professionalism and someone who can guide them through the process without jargon or pressure.
They come to me for honest advice, practical problem-solving and a website that feels considered rather than cobbled together.

Webflow also plays a huge role. It allows me to design from scratch, work efficiently, keep your website stable and make content editing incredibly simple for you once it's live.
Throughout my career I’ve worked across art, design and creative communication. I began in the artwork department of a print and publishing company, where I gained a solid foundation in layout, typography and visual craft, along with formal training at the Berkshire College of Art & Design.
When the print company closed in 1990, I took what was supposed to be a temporary detour into the pub trade. My artistic skills were soon put to work through freelance work, creating artistic chalkboard designs for pubs and restaurants. This gradually developed into traditional painted signwriting.
Over time, I progressed to running my own hospitality businesses. It was during this period that we first saw the potential of the internet as a way to market a business. After building a website for my own pub/restaurant, my customers began asking me to create websites for their own companies, which nudged the door open into a new creative direction.
In 2009 I stepped away from the licensed trade and began developing my web design skills more seriously, initially running it part-time while I built experience. Today I trade as a limited company from my home studio, helping businesses by crafting websites that feel clearer, more professional and more effective.
Although my fiancée insists I’m addicted to technology, at heart I’m a bit of a traditionalist with a soft spot for real ales and the golden age of steam railways.
Music has always been a huge part of my life. For many years, I ran my own DJ and presenter business, performing at hundreds of weddings, parties and events, and I also played guitar in a few live bands. My gigging days are now behind me, but I still enjoy picking up a guitar at home whenever I get the chance.
